Valero and Tesoro are Funding AB 32

Here is a note from our friends at Calseia, the California Solar Energy Industries Association. It appears that the big oil companies are funding this proposition. Please read on.

AB 32 is landmark legislation passed in California that will regulate greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) to reduce California’s GHG emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
A proposition is in the final stages of qualifying for theballot which will create a major, if not impossible impediment, to enacting the GHG regulations. The proposition would require that the GHG regulations must be delayed until the State’s unemployment rate to 5.5% or less for 4 consecutive quarters. The two primary oil companies funding this initiative are Valero and Tesoro. They are urging voter to approve this proposition based on the notion that AB 32 will hurt California’s economy.
Those of you who own businesses and employ workers, whether you have been in the business for months or more than 30 years know this story well – it is hard for some to accept that clean, renewable technologies contribute to the State’s economy and that solar and other renewables have already created good jobs throughout California. The potential for many more jobs, is reliant on the State’s policies that encourage use of energy from clean, renewable sources. Fortunately, California is the home to many thousands who are already employed in delivering clean energy to customers throughout California.
AB 32 is important to your business because clean energy technologies are one of the ways that the California Air Resources Board has identified to meet California’s GHG goals. AB 32 will further encourage Californians to maximize their energy efficiency and use of renewable energy – at every level: homes, businesses, utilities, and government agencies. It will also sets an example for other States and the Federal Government.
CALSEIA has endorsed the campaign against this proposition. If you would like to add your name and your company’s name to this program, here is the link to the campaign against where you can find out more about the effort to turn out votes against the proposition and add your name to the growing list of opponents:

You and your customers can help get the word out to vote NO on this proposition if it qualifies. The sooner people hear about it the more we educate people on why to vote no, before the proponents start their advertising.
