Orange County Solar Permit Costs–$15
Dennis Epp | Mar 05, 2009 | No Comments
Good news for Solar in Orange County. Permits for the unincorporated cities of Orange County are handled by the building department at the County of Orange. In the past, solar permits could easily cost over $1000. This has been revised and the new cost for for permits including all fees is $15. This is great news and shows that Orange County is going green. Additionally, Orange County does not require the new Fire Marshal roof exclusions of 3 feet on the left, 3 feet on the right and 3 feet across the ridge.
Los Angeles County incorporated these exclusions and this has severely hampered solar installations in LA County. Orange County’s refusal to incorporate these ridiculous guidelines gives us great hope that the County will continue to be progressive towards solar in the future.
Orange County California, we salute you.
